Ning To Jamroom Made Easier

03/24/15 07:49:15AM, by derrickhand300

Something I have been thinking about lately... On Ning 2.0 we choose from a selection of Ning themes then customize them the way we want...we have access to that code in the Ning-Advanced tabs in our editors there Why can we not use that code as a skin for Jamroom sites right off- then use the DOCs to add the Site Builder to a custom skin? Not sure if this could be done directly- or if it would involve importing your Ning content to JrNingja- THEN making the custom changes using the Ning...

Jamroom Install Wont Run

02/06/15 07:46:03PM, by davej56

I'm having trouble getting past the install screen. I keep putting the database info in, install runs a few seconds, then it blanks out my entries and does nothing. One thing I wonder, is that I installed Jamroom to a subdirectory. Could that be the problem?

PaintMyPhoto - Ning to Jamroom Migration

05/28/15 09:06:30AM, by Artemis

Not a question, but perhaps a useful review for anyone considering a move from Ning to Jamroom. I have been working closely with Jamroom over the last few weeks to help @roy-simmons move his site, PaintMyPhoto, from Ning to Jamroom. It has been a huge task, with 26,000 members and 100,000+ high resolution images to move. We elected to use Jamroom's hosting service (which is working very well for us). In a past life I worked with many software companies, but I have to say that Jamroom hold...

New Jamroom Hosting Forum

02/12/15 08:02:51AM, by brian

I've just finished creating a new "Jamroom Hosting" forum here - with our new Jamroom Hosting getting busy I figured this would be a better idea than posting everything to a single post If you have any questions about Jamroom Hosting (including hosting elsewhere) make sure and post here. I also tried to move a few hosting related posts here so the new forum was "move in ready". Thanks!

Jamroom Core 5.2.10 - DataStore Updates

09/19/14 01:40:13PM, by brian

I wanted to post a real quick update about the new Jamroom Core 5.2.10 release today - it contains some low level changes in the DataStore functions, which is why it took a little bit longer than normal to get the release out. There are several new DataStore functions and features that developers will like: jrCore_db_get_datastore_item_count($module) - use this in place of jrCore_db_number_rows($module, 'item'); jrCore_db_run_key_function($module, $key, $function) - this runs a "function"...

Jamroom Support holiday schedule

12/23/15 08:34:18AM, by brian

I just wanted to post a quick note about Jamroom Support availability over the next 10 days or so. Due to Christmas and New Years, between now and the end of the year, most of us here on the team will be offline on different days, so if you open a ticket please give us extra time to respond. If you are a Jamroom Hosting customer, please schedule any site activity knowing that our response to "help" may not be as quick as normal. I will personally be offline the 24th and 25th (Thursday and...

PHP 8 Support for Jamroom

12/31/20 07:52:00AM, by brian

Recently PHP 8 was released and I wanted to just post a quick update about Jamroom support for PHP 8. Currently Jamroom will NOT work correctly on PHP 8 - this isn't due to the Jamroom code itself (which runs no problem on PHP 8) , but Jamroom relies on a number of 3rd party libraries, One of the larger 3rd party libraries Jamroom uses is "Smarty" which is used for processing templates. Currently a version of Smarty that supports PHP 8 is in the works, but it's not released yet - once...
